<< That is not a rock singer folks. That’s a hologram mimicking a rock singer! More here at the Singularity Hub. The avatar is selling out concerts left and right in Japan where ’she’ comes from and has also sold out 2 albums.
What is freaking unreal is the optical density of the presentation. The avatar looks very solid. Only time you notice is when the avatar is back lit by a stage light. So the question is begged, how long before the EMH of StarTrek Voyager is a reality? Not ‘photonic life’ as portrayed in the series. Something a little more prosaic. Say a robot of physical presence cloaked in a holographic 3d display. 10, 20 years.
Don’t scoff. The Japanese are in a race to develop semi-AI autonomous robotic before their population ages beyond the point of societal collapse. When the first Cylon shows up, it will have been built by Mitsubishi. >>
